UK's largest solar rooftop project race against time
The Promens Warehouse solar rooftop project in Suffolk, is planned for completion before early next month along with the significant reduction of UK government feed-in tariff rate on August 1,2011. The rooftop solar farm which developed by Lightsource Renewable Energy and constructed by Grupotec is expected to generate 1.65 Megawatts to power the entire Promens Warehouse electricity need.
Project which has gained support from Octopus Investments was funded by many investors in the UK. The UK’s largest solar rooftop consists of 15kW inverters and about 7,000 multicrystalline solar panels which will have 14.2 percent efficiency. According to Nicholas Boyle, a Lightsource CEO, the Promens Warehouse solar rooftop is a manifestation of the energy mix which able to remove the the wasteful of distribution networks.
The good teamwork between the solar developers and the Promens company commitment has made the implementation of the project will be completed soon before the government reduce the amount of their subsidies for any solar scheme over 50KW after 1 August 2011. Currently the solar developers in the UK are in a race against time to complete their solar installation projects to still get benefit from the government higher FITs rate. There are at least about eleven large solar projects are being implemented in the UK.
