Increased efficiency and reduced costs are the two lines on which research is developed to make this technology affordable and give a future independent of the availability of incentives.
The company Padua 2BG has developed a technology that eliminates the use of silver paste in the production of cells for solar panels replaced by a process that uses a new coating. The research project was initiated in early 2010 through collaboration with Rise Technology Srl, an Italian company founded by researchers at the University "La Sapienza" of Rome.
The 2BG announces that the process is actually applicable in the photovoltaic industry, bringing forward the planned removal of the silver paste for 2015, as told by "The Crystalline Silicon PV Technology and Manufacturing", lots of seeds. To introduce the new technology is scheduled a conference only for those cell manufacturers giving them the chance to see the theoretical principle at work, at its booth during the 26th EU PVSEC (European Photovoltaic Solar Energy Conference and Exhibition) in Hamburg, from 5 to 9 September.
