Sony Introduced Its Solar Windows at Eco Products 2010
A glass windows with a beautiful flower ornaments as well as power generation demonstrated by Sony at Eco Product Exhibition 2010 in Tokyo.
The Hana Mado or Flower Window is a device which is a Dye-Sensitized Solar Cells (DSSC) to convert light into electrical energy. Demonstration using a small fan to show that electric power can be generated from the solar windows.
The design of this device is very attractive because it offers cheaper solar cells technology and easier to be installed at home. The design also uses screen printing to produce a special design in accordance with consumer preferences.
In 2008 Sony DSSC has been a success story for its 10 percent of conversion efficiency .Not yet clear when this device will be commercialized but the prototype can describe readiness for commercialization.
